Why We Built This Site
Illinois offers several public access routes, yet no one office holds every part of a criminal history. The Rock Island County Sheriff's Office maintains deputy reports, booking material, and county custody information. The Circuit Clerk keeps filed charges, hearings, and dispositions. Illinois State Police operates the statewide repository and CHIRP conviction inquiry, while IDOC and the Illinois Sex Offender Registry serve separate custody and registration needs. We organize official contacts, search paths, fees, and request steps around those real divisions.

What We Cannot Do
Rock Island County Criminal History is a privately operated reference site. It has no relationship with an Illinois court, sheriff, police department, or state agency. That independence places firm limits on our role:
- We do not retrieve records or perform official background checks
- We cannot submit a FOIA request, expungement petition, or court filing for a visitor
- We have no power to certify a case document, criminal record, or repository response
- We cannot advise anyone about the effect of a charge, warrant, disposition, or clearing law
- We cannot promise that an agency's hours, fees, address, or phone number has not changed
An official record must come from its custodian, such as the Rock Island County sheriff, Circuit Clerk, or Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification.
Search Partners
Outside providers power search boxes that appear on some pages. Each provider controls its product, results, prices, and terms. We may receive a referral payment when a visitor follows one of those tools and purchases a service, which helps support free access to this resource. We do not set partner fees or decide what their searches return.
