Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location submitted through a search tool passes directly to the outside provider that operates it. That company processes the request and supplies any result. Rock Island County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We may keep an email or contact submission long enough to respond and maintain the exchange. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems automatically receive basic technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view dates and times
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- A referring website, when one is supplied
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure use, including popular pages and points where visits end. Analytics providers combine this traffic information for reporting. A browser can reject cookies, though disabling them may change how parts of the site function.
What We Do With This Data
- Route submitted searches to the selected partner
- Operate the site and maintain reasonable loading speed
- Find and repair security or technical faults
- Assess which resources are useful or need revision
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Rock Island County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its general reference material points to the Rock Island County Sheriff's Office, Circuit Clerk, Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification, and Illinois Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or profiles about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention choices, and sharing rules govern information submitted through those tools. We cannot direct those practices. Read the selected provider's policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the sheriff, Circuit Clerk, Illinois agencies, legal assistance resources, or private services. Once a visitor leaves our pages, the destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before disclosing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select interest-based ads.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Advertising networks that place content on the site
- Search providers processing a query selected by the visitor
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect information in our control. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.
Your Data Rights
Rights may also arise under applicable Illinois law, including the Illinois Personal Information Protection Act, 815 ILCS 530, and Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, 815 ILCS 505. Subject to legal limits, a user may:
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Ask what personal information we retain
- Seek deletion where the law permits
- Object to certain processing where an applicable right exists
